One of my great joys is designing and building mechanical & electromechanical devices. These two variations on a smart lock showcase this kind of work.
The best mechanisms are startlingly simple, just like the most beautiful mathematical proofs. With this in mind, I am particularly proud of LoveFrom’s Red Nose. There is no sliding in the hinge- only rolling without slipping. In addition, the “rollers” naturally create the space needed for the folded paper when the nose is closed. Another mechanism which turned out nicely is the duo button, which holds together the garments in LoveFrom’s recent collaboration with Moncler. Magnets cause the button elements to stick together and to snap into different configurations.
